Photography
Photography is my hobby. I use some of my pictures for advertising and have had numerous photos bought and published.
But, what I find myself doing most often is trying to capture the magnificence of nature, the excitement and mood of a live event (normally involving dogs) and to provide lasting memories of something that made me smile.
Horizon
I lived in Chicago for 30 years of my adult life in a typical 2 story frame home built in 1918, where I could stand in my gangway with my arms open wide and touch both my house and my neigbor's house at the same time. Needless to say, it was very closed off and the only beautiful skyline you could see was a mile away at the lakefront or driving on Lake Shore Drive heading towards downtown and the skyscrapers.
When I moved to Michigan, I was astounded by the wide open skies I viewed from every angle. Hence, my fixation with documenting the awe I feel when "Doo, doo, doo, lookin' out my back door". (Thanks to Creedence Clearwater Revival for that song quote.)
Really looking skyward
I do not have the proper camera lenses for astrophotography, but nonetheless, I still enjoy trying as I am fascinated by the ever changing faces of the moon.
Speaking of skyward
Mother Nature put on quite a show in my own backyard, and now another accomplishment from my bucket list is satisfied! Although I was using my less than stellar cellphone camera, these pictures of the "Northern Lights" show the progression of colors I was able to enjoy over the span of about an hour.
Nature
I am constantly in awe of the beauty of nature. Artistole said "In all things of nature there is something of the marvelous". Albert Einstein said "Look into nature and then you will understand everything better." Well, I never tire of looking, trying to understand and appreciating.
Dogs, dogs and more dogs.
I have spent a lifetime surrounded by dogs… training, showing, judging, writing about and photographing.
